UPDATE: Lake Hodges March 16th Bass Contender Tournament
Bass Contenders we have been approved for variance at the upcoming March 16th Tournament. The DFG has approved our request for a five fish bag limit and a minimum length of 12″ or better. It is rare to get a variance with these size and bag limits for lake Hodges. With the Spring bite in full force this tournament promises to be a good one. There are special requirements from the DFG which include each participant having in their possession during contest hours electronic written identification issued by the sponsor that states a variety of details included in the Department Of Fish and Wildlife permit.
These details will need to be printed out in advance of the tournament to keep us all in compliance. Please make sure if you plan on attending this awesome event you are present at the Wed March 6th Bass Contender meeting at Michael Angello’s pizzaria in San Dimas. If you think you cannot make the meeting but are planning on attending the event please contact Tournament Director Big Ed Cazares so he can get you on the angler list.
The club would also like to Thank everybody for a fantastic turnout at Feb 23 Otay Reservoir tournament where twenty two anglers in eleven boats came out to play and good times were had by all. If you read the report on the Otay Results page you will see all the comments and replies posted by many Bass Contender anglers who competed in the Otay event. Look at the bottom of the page where it says “Speak Your Mind”. Remember everytime we reply and comment on any tournament it is archived for review at any given time in the future. It can help us prepare in six months or several years when we return the same body of water, thanks for being a part of our forum. Big Ed!
In closing are some comments posted by our original founding President Gabby Hayes after the Otay event:
“This is Gabby Hayes. I just want to say how happy I am to see such a good turnout at the Otay tournament. Some of the other longtime members were thinking the same thing. I am really happy in the direction the club has been going for the past six months or so. We are all getting along great and it reminds me of the old days when this club first started in 1980. It is really great to see some of the new guys joining the club who are all real good people and good to still see some of the old guys like Ted Romero, Joe Nava and Ron Janke just to name a few. It don’t matter if we only catch a fish or two as long as we all have a good time, that’s what it’s all about. Keep it up guys and let people know what a good group of guys are here. You can make friends in a club like this that will last a lifetime, I know I sure have. Hell, I think I might even do a barbecue at the March 16 Hodges tournament. The fishin should be real good in March”.
