Round 2 is in the books. Our stop at the beautiful Lake Skinner found multiple angler high fiving each other, while others were left scratching their heads. The lake was beautiful with picturesque fog hovering over the water just before the sun graced us with it’s warm rays. The water wasn’t crystal clear, but it was clear enough to see the free swimmers, late bedders, fry guarders , and the mean ones that lived in the tullies. It sounds great, but the guys that pre-fished will tell you that a week made a big difference. A change in the weather, the water level being up from last week, a bad moon, and all of the other factors/excuses all came out…but if fishing was easy, everyone would do it.
David M stayed on his hot start to the 2024 season. He backed up his Havasu win and Big Fish with a Skinner win and big fish! His 1-2 punch combo gave him a little separation in the pointy standings but don’t blink because it’s close after 2 stops. Steve Meza stayed on his Havasu streak with back to back bags weighing in the “teens”. Alfred V, fishing as a non boater, rounded out the last podium spot. Skinner didn’t give us those 25-30 pound bags, but there multiple anglers with double digit bags and more than a few fished weighed in for Big Fish.
This stop also served as our Top 10 Shootout. The Shootout is an individual competition that has the Top 10 finalists from the prior years standings battling it out for some extra club rewards.
