November 15th twenty six Basscontender anglers on thirteen teams made their way up to Silverwood Lake with hopes of bagging a two fish-fifteen inch limit each. The weather seemed promising with clear skies and mild air temps as were the lake conditions with water temps above 60 degrees. It was a match made in heaven one you would dream of for the middle of November. As we filled the construction entrance turnout at 5:00am to the north of the main entrance the dock talk began and hopes were at a high premium. It wouldn’t be long until we all filed in for early entrance onto the water below before the general public had a chance.
California Basscontenders would like to extend a warm welcome to first time participant 16yr old Andrew Serar who fished with Big Ed who himself is making his triumphant return to the Bassconters. This is Andrew’s first experience in a bass tournament and the start of what will most likely be an angler to watch out for. Andrew fished hard all day never ever slowing down for a second. His knowledge of rigging fishing tackle and multiple techniques are amazing for even the veteran angler. Welcome Andrew we hope you enjoy the ride.
With twenty six anglers competing in the November contest and only eight lucky anglers weighing in only nine fish total, the “Wood” proved to be a stingy unwilling participant not giving up the goods she is well known for. That’s the way it goes and that’s the way it went on this windy November morning in the high dessert. Congratulations to the only two fish limit for first place recipient Gil Bowman who managed too trick himself up a limit under the worst of conditions with what turned out to be the huge bag of 3.95lbs. Close behind in second place was Kenny Isago who managed to land his only keeper on the last cast of the day with only five minutes to spare while also bagging Big Fish for the event. Rounding out third place was the Kid… Alex Pisaraski with a nice finish for the Dream Team. Congratulations to The Grind Pro Staffers Paul Herber and Danny Caldwell for the Big Boat award tipping the scales at 4.27lbs.
