Twenty two Bass Contenders gathered with the beautiful Arizona sunrise as their backdrop. Hopes were high, the weather was pleasant and so was the fish catching as eleven teams blasted off in different directions. Havasu 2024 had it all, it had severe wind and heavy rain, it had bright sun and flat calm water. When it was all said and done and the dust finally settled it was the Havasu Champion team of Gary Crouse and Johnny Abyad’s consistency that paid off. Gary and Johnny brought home the 1st place trophy breaking the 30lb two day mark. In 2nd place the team of Derrick Yoshinaga and Sergio Sanchez bringing in 22.7lbs to the scales anchored by their 18.35lb day one big sack of the weekend. Rounding out 3rd place with 28.87lbs was the team of David Mendez and the Sherminator. The Big fish award was won by the fish doctor Randy Estrada with an Arizona hog that tipped the scale at 5.29lbs.

Keeping with long standing CBC tradition for 2 day tournaments the club gathered for Saturday nights outstanding dinner and barbecue. Special CBC thank you shoutout to Junkyard Savko for opening up his beautiful home to host the event, everything was perfect. We even had a rare appearance from Gary Boyd and Pops Colgan at the evening’s festivities. Bass contenders also got to hang out and welcome our new prospective member Chris Barbato who fished with Alfred the assassin Vasquez, he is a keeper for sure maybe we can cull him lol. Camaraderie was outstanding the fishing was pretty good, but the fun times hanging out with friends will make memories that will last forever.
