Hello Basscontenders. This is a message from your President Conrad Apodaca:
We apologize for the late notice… hope this CBC update finds you and your family well.
With the Covid-19 stay at home orders slowly lifting the upper management of the CBC decided once again it is safe for us to begin to gather as long as we do it safely. We are recommending that you wear a mask and social distance yourself from other members as we meet and gather for the July 1st regular meeting. Please be aware some members are more susceptible to catching the virus than others so we strongly recommend you wear a mask and keeping six feet apart as a rule of thumb. Please also keep in mind wearing a mask doesn’t protect you, it protects others. We will meet in an outdoor area in San Dimas at the shop of Meza’s HVAC Heating and Air Conditioning 550 E. Arrow Hwy at 7:00PM on Wednesday July 1, 2020. Meza’s HVAC is in the rear of the complex drive to the back you cant miss it. Please bring your own folding lawn chair and come a few minutes early so we can start ontime. We have alot to talk about with several items of business not limited to but including:
1) Bass Club news and tournament updates.
2) February Piru & March Havasu standings.
3) Collect 2020 club dues $35 each member.
4) Collect all Bass Boat Insurance from EVERY active boater in attendance.
NOTE: Please bring a paper copy of your Boaters Insurance no emails or texts.
If you have any questions or concerns please bring them with you for discussion.
See you later: Big Ed!
April Tournament: CANCELLED
May Tournament: CANCELLED
June Tournament: CANCELLED
According to the latest information we will be back for regular schedule meetings and tournaments starting July 2020.
See you on the water: Big Ed!
Well we almost made it… unfortunately with county wide curfew in full effect and the continued presence of the Covid-19 virus we found no other solution except to cancel the previously scheduled outdoor meeting for the regular June Basscontender meeting. We will keep you posted as to what the future holds for our next meeting in July. We hope you are staying safe at home and practicing safe measures to keep you and your family safe.
When there is new Bass Contender news we will once again send out another update as soon as we know. As of today the California Department of Fish and Wildlife still has not lifted the hold on fishing contests in California at any level. We will continue to wait and see.
We look forward to seeing you on the water: Big Ed!

Hello Bass Contenders:
A message from your CBC President:
After much thought and consideration from our club President Conrad Apodaca Sr and the entire CBC Board of Directors we have decided to cancel the April meeting and the April 25th tournament at DVL. In addition the April Delta Road trip has been canceled and postponed to middle of October. In addition the May meeting and tournament has also been canceled due to the stay at home orders. Moving forward we will wait and see with respect to the current health crises. A group notification will go out once we return to a normal schedule.
Please stay safe and protect your loved ones. We look forward to seeing you on the water soon!
Best Regards: Big Ed!

Congratulations the to 2019-2020 Angler Of The Year Johnny Abyad who plowed his way to the top of the leaderboard in short fashion. Johnny finished the 2020 CBC season with four first place wins with another two second place finishes out of eleven tournaments. In ten of eleven events Johnny finished in top ten just crushing the competition to earn his spot at the top of leaderboard. I had the chance to get some insight from Johnny looking back on the past season.
“First of all I would like to thank God for bringing me to the sport I have grown to love. I would also thank my amazing girlfriend for her understanding and allowing me to take so much time off and go fishing.
I started fishing about three and a half years ago just by chance, went to puddingstone caught my first bass and I was hooked. Then a friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to a bass club meeting and I told him sure that sounds interesting, that’s when I joined California Bass Contenders and started fishing on the back of everyone’s boats. About one year and half ago I decided that it’s time for me to buy a boat of my own and that is when it all began.
I guess what I love about bass fishing the most is the camaraderie with all the members. Chatting and sharing everyone’s life stories and how they were able to catch their fish as well as the competition against you and the fish to see which one is smarter”.
Way to go Johnny we all congratulate you on a great performance!
See you on the water: Big Ed!
Congratulations on his first California Bass Contender win as angler Steve Meza claims victory from the back seat of the blue Champion 206.
